Invitation
Dear colleagues,
On behalf of the CENP International Organizing Committee and Croatian Society for Psychopharmacotherapy and Biological Psychiatry of the Croatian Medical Association,
it is our great pleasure to invite you most cordially to the 12th Central
European Neuropsychopharmacological Symposium in Zagreb, May 7-9, 2010.
This symposium has a long-standing tradition in fostering the contacts between
psychiatrists and neuroscientists from Central, Western and Eastern Europe in
the field of neuropsychopharmacology. So far the symposia had been held in
Nurnberg (1965), Karlsbad (1967), Split (1969), Bratislava (1988), the Balaton
Lake (1990), Marin Slap near Prague (1996), Vienna (1998), Brijuni (2001),
Sarajevo (2007) and Belgrade (2008).
The topic of the symposium is
PERSONALIZED AND CREATIVE PSYCHOPHARMACOTHERAPY:
WISHFUL THINKING OR EMERGING REALITY?
with main themes
1. Psychopharmacotherapy and Multimorbidity: Current Perspectives and Challenges
2. New Trends and Controversies in Clinical Psychopharmacology
Psychopharmacotherapy is a cornerstone of holistic and integrating treatment of mental disorders with the aim of achieving a full sense of life and increasing
life satisfaction, happines and well-being of patients. Personalized psychopharmacotherapy
pursues trends in personalized medicine. In addition to the infl uence
of genetic, personal and environmental elements, it also encompasses the
influence of comorbidity on pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of mental
health medications as well as on possible drug interactions. Comorbidity or multimorbidity
is an extremely important issue in personalized medication choice,
medication tapering, prediction and avoidance of unwanted side-effects, followup
treatment and achieving full recovery. Shifting the paradigm from vertical and
monomorbid interventions to comorbidity and multimorbidity approach facilitates
the association between the successful treatment of mental disorders with the
successful treatment for comorbid somatic disease, and vice versa.
This CENP Symposium should be a great opportunity for exchanging ideas, experience
and research finding within a framework of personalized and creative psychopharmacotherapy, new trends and controversies in clinical psychopharmacology.
Both scientific and social programs will be of the highest quality and we sincerely
hope that all participants will have a memorable and rewarding experience.
